Monthly Archives: January 2012

Here are another bunch from the photo a day project…

Day 20:  Someone you love

Snapped on instagram while we were away.

+++++++++++++

Day 21:  Reflection

Obvious, I know.  But some days are harder than others to come up with ideas :)

+++++++++++++

Day 22:  Your shoes

Yes, these are actually my shoes (but not my little legs!).  I bought them for wearing on the farm and I sometimes wear them in the garden etc. although I have another favourite pair of boots for that.

+++++++++++++

Day 23:  Something old

We recently inherited this guy, a family heirloom (on long term loan until the next generation has children!).  My 2 year old wanted to know what he was so cranky about, I thought he looked happy!?

+++++++++++++

Day 24:  Guilty pleasure

Magazines.  Anyone who knows me knows I’m a liiiiiiitle bit nuts for them.  Currently reading:

Papier Mache
Green Magazine
Treadlie
Frankie
Kinfolk
3191Q

Basically, if you print anything on a lovely matte recycled paper, add beautiful photography and creative and inspiring concepts – I’ll buy it ;)

+++++++++++++

Day 25:  Something you made

I’ve seen a few variations of these floating around etsy.  Now usually, I’m a huge supporter of buying handmade and really try not to copy other people’s ideas but as soon as I realised these were made from Fimo, I was transported back to my childhood (I LOVED Fimo!).  So I decided I had to have a go at making my own.

Fimo’s a lot harder than I remember – or is that just because I’m used to working with play dough now!?!  Nevertheless it was a lot of fun.  So I’m sorry etsy-fimo-bead-sellers (not sure who had the “original” idea for these and I only have a link to this one, sorry) – I promise next time to buy from you and not make bootleg versions for myself ;)

Day 26:  Colour

There!  Up to date again.  Until tomorrow :)

I’m back from a few days away visiting family in country QLD.  We spent most of our time on one farm and spent a day at another, exploring an old house and riding horses.  I (of course) snapped a few pics while I was there.  Just putting them together now, I realised I was really focusing on old things and horses!  I guess I’ve been there a lot now and have already taken the typical pretty countryside shots.  Each time I go back I look for new things to photograph.
Anyway, here’s what I saw…

I’ve fallen behind with the photo a day project, will get up to date soon and post another batch ;)

Another batch of photos for the photo a day project.  I’m having a lot of fun with this.

Day 15:  Happiness

Happiness = finding so much vintage treasure at one time!  Might look like a pile of junk to some but to me, it’s a major score :)

+++++++++++++

Day 16:  Morning

Morning mess.

+++++++++++++

Day 17:  Water

+++++++++++++

Day 18: Something you bought

If I’m honest, most of my hats were bought with fashion in mind over practicality.  I needed a hat that worked well… you know… as a hat.  This does the job, not sure about the fashion score but burnt skin isn’t so hot either so…

+++++++++++++

Day 19: Sweet

These golden plums became plum jam!  Rather proud of myself actually – or should I say proud of us.  My husband sat up one night and helped me de-seed 5kg of plums!  Most importantly, it tastes really good.

+++++++++++++

Day 19′s a day early but I’ll be away for a 5 days from tomorrow so wanted to share that one before I left…  I’ll try to keep up with the other days while I’m away, I might post them on instagram (follow along here if you’re not on instagram via iPhone).

Might try to squeeze in another post later, have some nice things to share :)

Another bulk upload to catch up on the photo a day project…

Day 9:  Daily Routine

Breakfast for four…  Oats, banana, cinnamon, sweetened with a little agave nectar.  Let’s not talk about the fact it’s still cool enough to eat porridge for breakfast, shall we?

+++++++++++++

Day 10:  Childhood

+++++++++++++

Day 11:  Where you sleep

Where I sleep…  is often where he sleeps…

+++++++++++++

Day 12:  Close-Up

+++++++++++++

Day 13:  In your bag

Stripes :: handmade pouch :: Japanese pattern :: technology

+++++++++++++

Day 14:  Something you’re reading

Not so much something I’m reading…  Something I’m gazing at in awe would perhaps describe it better…

I’m going to write another separate post on this.  It’s love I tell you ♥

I’m still behind on this, I suspect this may be the case the whole way through January!  Never mind, there will be one photo for each day, regardless of when I take them/post them!

Day 7: Favourite

Picnics with my little family.  Often in the backyard for lunch (or morning tea like this one), but we try to get out and go somewhere new each time we go out and about for a picnic.

+++++++++++++

Day 8: Your sky

The sky last night was amazing.  I walked outside and saw a full moon in one direction, and pink, purple and orange sky in the the other…

I had fun with this today.  Some of these weren’t taken today but all were taken in January so I’m still sticking to the rules (not that there are any strict rules!)…

Day 1:  You

Hello.

+++++++++++++

Day 2: Breakfast

Home grown.  Not that I can take any credit, they just grew themselves.  They mightn’t look much like it now but after I make golden plum jam, they’ll be breakfast!!

+++++++++++++

Day 3: Something you adore

More like someone…  Obvious choice but how could I not?!

+++++++++++++

Day 4: Letterbox

Neighbours now officially think I’m strange taking photos of neighbourhood letterboxes…

+++++++++++++

Day 5: Something you wore

Yesterday.

+++++++++++++

Day 6: Makes you smile

Sunny days, rainbows, gorgeous boy.  Makes me smile indeed.

Since I’m still in the thick of business planning and not taking a lot of photos (for work) yet, I thought I’d give myself a little challenge in the meantime…

I saw this photo a day challenge (via here) and I thought I might give it a try.

(Image taken from fat mum slim)

I know this kind of thing has been done before, over and over but I’ve never tried it and it’s only for a month – not sure how I’d go promising to take a photo every day of the year, for example (although I pretty much do that anyway!?).

So – being a photo a day for the month of January, and it already being almost a week into January, I’ll need to do some catching up.  I can cover some of the topics straight away with pictures I’ve taken over the last week anyhow.

See how we go at the end of the month!

On New Year’s Eve my littlest turned one. A year ago he arrived in quite a hurry at home in the most natural (and wonderful!) way possible.  He’s a little ray of sunshine that boy, what a special day.

Add a birthday to Christmas and New Year’s and we’re in for a month’s worth of celebrations every December.  Because we probably fall somewhat into the “health freak” category, we don’t do to badly compared to some I guess but given the month of special occasions, I think every January will turn into detox month!  Time to revisit my old friend Kris Carr and get back on the green juice wagon!
